Dr. Mohammad Moin should be reintroduced worldwide

The commemoration of the 52nd death anniversary of Dr. Mohammad Moein, prominent Persian lexicographer and the author of Moin Persian dictionary, was held with the presence of Head of the Society for the Appreciation of Cultural Works and Dignitaries (SACWD), Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Gilan Province, the representative of Astana Ashrafieh in the Islamic Council, the Deputy Governor of Gilan, the Governor of Astana Ashrafieh, Mahdokht Moin, the daughter of Dr. Moin and a group of literary scholars at the tomb of Dr. Moin in Astana Ashrafieh.

The commemoration of the 52nd  death anniversary of Dr. Mohammad Moein, prominent Persian lexicographer and the author of Moin Persian dictionary, was held with the presence of Head of the Society for the Appreciation of Cultural Works and Dignitaries (SACWD), Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Gilan Province, the representative of Astana Ashrafieh in the Islamic Council, the Deputy Governor of Gilan, the Governor of Astana Ashrafieh, Mahdokht Moin, the daughter of Dr. Moin and a group of literary scholars at the tomb of Dr. Moin in Astana Ashrafieh.
Mahmood Shalooei, Head of the SACWD in his opening remarks said: “Iran is known in the world today for its culture, literature and art that underpin its ancient civilization.”
He added: “Iranians have been boasting in the world since long ago of the sweet and eloquent Persian language and numerous poets like Ferdowsi, Hafez, Sadi, Attar and Khayyam and hundreds of writers and scholars shine brightly through its history.”
Shalooei described Persian language and literature as a precious gem and continued: “Literary scholars are extremely responsive to spiritual and psychological sensitivity. But writing is not the only criterion to qualify someone for being a lexicographer. Because terminologies create grammatical constraints for writers. However, this is not applicable to a writer like Dr. Mohammed Moin. He embodied a gentle soul and pure heart which inspired him to create a commentary on Hafez which acclaimed worldly as one of the most accurate mystical account.”
The advisor to the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance emphasized: “The scale of Dr. Moin`s effort in lexicography is vast and he has a great mastery of the Persian language and literature. He is best known for his famous Moin Dictionary as well as his contributions to the Dehkhoda Dictionary. Hence, Dr. Moin`s various scientific, cultural and literary dimensions should be re-introduced to the world.”
He reiterated the need to introduce Dr. Moin's thoughts to the young generation and added: "The country needs to educate more scholars like Dr. Moin. Therefore, it is necessary to create cultural and scientific platforms for the literary and scientific education of scholars in Gilan more than before.
Reza Saghafi, Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Gilan province, also in his speech, viewed honoring Dr. Mohammad Moin as honoring Persian language and literature and stated: “Many Iranian elites like Dr. Moin have emerged in Astana Ashrafieh. It is our responsibility to honor these great scholars and to introduce them further to the Iranians as well as the world.”
Another speaker, Ebrahim Najafi, the representative of Astana Ashrafieh, also highlighted Dr. Moin`s outstanding status in the sphere of Persian literature and called for the cooperation of SACWD to commemorate Dr. Moin at national level and to build a prtigiuos mausoleum as well as a museum and library for him.
The ceremony concluded by the closing remarks of Mahdokht Moin, professor of Persian language and literature and daughter of Dr. Moin, in which she reviewed some of the important literary and cultural works of his father and expressed her appreciation for organizing the event in Astana Ashrafieh.
