Discussed in the 1st int`l conference on Iran's most revered female poet, Parvin Etesami:
Parvin Etesami`s poetry; a combination of knowledge and wisdom
The first international conference on Parvin Etesami was held by Allameh Tabatabai University and Shahriar Cultural Center in cooperation with the Society for the Appreciation of Cultural Works and Dignitaries (SACWD), with the presence of professors of Persian language and literature on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages of Allameh Tabatabai University.
Mahmood Shalooei, head of the SACWD in his remarks at this conference said: “Although there are not many Iranian female poets, they have such an inspiring taste that evoke admirations, and among others is Parvin Etesami, who gained reputation in Persian poetry and literature.”
The adviser to the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance further added: “Parvin Etesami's poetic strength, decency and ingenuity are very remarkable. Her poetry is underpinned by profound thought and concepts that are very didactic both in her time and today.”
At the end of his remarks, head of SACWD, appreciated Allameh Tabatabai University and Shahriar Cultural Center for their efforts and contributions to honoring Iran`s cultural elites.
Mohsen Habibi, head of the Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages of Allameh Tabatabai University, stated: "Etesami`s poems which are ethically didactic convey critical themes and emotions which depict the disillusionment of post Constitutional era and the policies during the years of Reza Khan`s rise."
Elsewhere, Mahmood Bashiri, deputy of research center at Allameh Tabatabai University's Faculty of Literature, alluded to the content of Etesami's poems saying: “Parvin Etesami has a high status among moralist poets. Persian poets such as Nasser Khosrow, Rumi, Sa`di and Hafez had great influence on her. In terms of poetic form, she is also inspired by Ibn Yamin Faryumadi.”
“Parvin can be compared with the great poet of Iraqi style, Khwaju Kermani, who enjoys such creativity in his artistic adaptation from earlier poets that it is not possible to identify the source and origin. It is the same about Parvin Etesami whose creative adaptations cannot be distinguished from the great poets before her”, he concluded.
At the end of this literary and research conference, a number of researchers of Parvin Etesami's poetry were honored.
