SACWD commemorates Iranian prominent scholar, Asgar Shahi Ardabili
The commemoration of eminent Iranian poet and writer Asgar Shahi Ardabili, was held in the presence of a large number of literary figures, poets and scholars on Thursday, November 23, 2023 in Shahid Motahari Hall at the Society for the Appreciation of Cultural Works and Dignitaries (SACWD).
At the beginning of the event, Mahmood Shalooei, head of the SACWD, said: "There is no doubt that Ardabil is a region nurturing such intellectuals as Sheikh Safi al-Din, Mohaghegh Ardabili, Shahizadeh Ardabili and many others who have exerted much influence on Iranian culture.”
In another part of his remarks, the adviser to the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance stated: “Professor Shahi Ardabili has applied mysticism to religious realm in his works and has carefully provided his evidences. What professor Shahi expresses actually flows from his innermost and this is one of the characteristics of sages.”
Head of the SACWD concluded his remarks saying: “Professor Shahi Ardabili is one of those scholars who creates connection between our bright past with today to ensure an ongoing strong bond with our rich cultural heritage.”
Next speaker, Alireza Abdi, Deputy Minister of Education, read the Minister's message in the ceremony and asserted: “Professor Shahi Ardabili has depicted Imam Hussein (AS) magnificently in his poems. Therefore, a large group of youth of Ardabil province and even Iran have become acquainted with Imam Hussein (AS) through his poems.”
In his turn, Manouchehr Sadoughi Saha, a scholar of Islamic wisdom and mysticism, also emphasized: “Poetry is not separate from mind. It is not something that can be learned, but is an inborn gift. When I saw the book of professor Shahi Ardabili titled "From Beginning to Beginning”, I encountered a personality who, besides being a poet, has transcended the realm of reason. In this book, there are thought-provoking concepts that can be described. Among other things, in this book, he put forward the concept ‘transcending reason’, which indicates that they removed reason from its conventional domain and entered the domain beyond the reason.”
Esmail Amini, a professor of Persian language and literature, said: "Professor Shahi's literary works, while maintaining the strength and ingenuity of poetry, are comprehensible for public at large and is so vivid and vibrant. Therefore, the poetry of this outstanding scholar has left a significant impact on the new Iranian generation.”
Elsewhere in this ceremony, Kazem Nazari Bagha, a member of Hafez Society in Ardabil, and Alireza Qazveh, a poet and literary scholar, recited verses from their poems and presented them to professor Shahi.
Professor Asgar Shahi Ardabili also spoke about the importance of poetry in the world, while praising the SACWD and the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance General Directorate of Ardabil province for holding the ceremony.
At the end of the ceremony, this prominent scholar was awarded the Plaque of Appreciation and gifts from SACWD, Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults and Minister of Education.
