In his opening remarks at the event, Mehdi Mohaghegh, a member of the Board of Directors of the SACWD and a prominent editor of Naser Khosrow's Divan, said: “Hakim Naser Khosrow reconciled sharia and reason and by writing his ‘Safarnameh’ (Travelogue) he left a lasting legacy in the tradition of writing travelogue.”
Mahmood Shalooei, Head of the SACWD, in his remarks, referred to some of the intellectual characteristics of Naser Khosrow and said: “Hakim Naser Khosrow`s thought rests on the combination of faith and reason wherein he focuses primarily upon the interpretation of concepts. Naser Khosrow exerted great influence on educating thinkers after him; he allowed others to explore his opinions and thoughts. Among his works, ‘Zad al-Mosaferin’, which is meant to express his divine wisdom in prose in a lucid way and ‘Safarnameh’, which embodies an account of his seven-year journey, are regarded as important sources of historical geography.”
He concluded his remarks saying: “It is important that our youth access Hakim Naser Khosrow`s thoughts and works in a simple language to be able to establish a deeper connection with the cultural and literary heritage of Iran.”
In his turn, Ahmad Tamimdari, a retired professor of Persian language and literature at Allameh Tabatabai University, said: “In Naser Khosrow`s poems, Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) has always had a high status. He always praised and admired Imam Ali (AS) and his progeny.”
He clarified: “Naser Khosrow urged his readers to establish friendship with Imam Ali (AS) and the family of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Next speaker, Sarvar Molaei, a permanent member of the Iranian Academy of Persian Language and Literature said: “The Khorasan which Naser Khosrow mentions in his poems, exhibits a kind of evocative feeling. Throughout Persian history, Khaqani has also made several mentions to Khorasan in his poems, but what Naser Khosrow intended to manifest is different from others.”
In another part of his speech, he pointed out the features of Hakim Naser Khosrow's Divan and concluded: “Naser Khosrow`s Divan encompasses the concepts of freedom in all its forms and manifestations as a fundamental and inalienable right of all individuals. Naser Khosrow guards against any potential ignorance and unawareness. Therefore, his attention to freedom is very noteworthy."
