SACWD holds press conference on commemoration of Sheikh Safiuddin Ardebili
The press conference of the national commemoration of prominent Iranian mystic poet, Sheikh Safiuddin Ardebili, was held in the presence of Mahmood Shalooei, Head of the Society for the Appreciation of Cultural Works and Dignitaries (SACWD), Seyed Hamed Ameli, Governor of Ardabil, Manouchehr Sadoughi Saha, a researcher of Islamic wisdom and mysticism, and Amir Rajabi, Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance in Ardabil on Monday, July 24, 2023, in Shahid Motahari hall in SACWD.
At the beginning of the event, Head of the SACWD said: “The Society has so far opened its offices in different provinces, and fortunately the last office was opened in Ardebil which has coincided with the commemoration of Sheikh Safiuddin Ardebili. It is an honor for the entire Islamic world that such a scholar was raised in this land whose thought brings light to the path towards our future. Hence, the influential status of Sheikh Safiuddin Ardebili should be further introduced to the youth and the general public.”
Shalooei emphasized: “The commemoration of Sheikh Safiuddin Ardebili will begin from July 26th which will run for a week. Also, the publication of scholarly works, articles and lectures devoted to this distinguished mystic is among the most important programs carried out during the week. A conference will also be held in Tehran with the presence elites from Ardebil and Tehran at Tehran University.
Elsewhere in the meeting, Seyed Hamed Ameli, the Governor of Ardebil, addressed the issue and said: “Every year we carried out various programs on July 26th to mark the commemoration of Sheikh Safiuddin Ardebili. But this year, we are planning to honor this personality, who is widely known in china, India and other countries at international level. In the provincial programs we will have the first religious program at the mausoleum of Sheikh Safiuddin Ardebili on this day. At the end of the commemoration week of Sheikh Safiuddin Ardabili, we will have a program with the presence of various scientific and cultural personalities at the national level. Other programs are held in Tehran University and Mohaghegh Ardebili University and finally an event will be held in the SACWD with the presence of scholars and researchers to further introduce the intellectual heritage of Sheikh Safiuddin Ardebili.
Manouchehr Sadoughi Saha, a professor and researcher of Islamic wisdom and mysticism, in his turn, said: "There is an existential unity between true Shia with Ahl al-Bayt (AS). We hope that during Sheikh Safiuddin commemoration conference, a scientific committee of Safavid historians will be formed to carry out research in this area.”
At the end of the meeting, the Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Ardebil province presented a report on the activities implemented on the commemoration of Sheikh Safiuddin Ardebili, then the journalists raised their questions.
